Community Rules
Last updated 3 November 2026
The short version. Hiili is one shared world. Fight, compete and change the land as much as the game lets you, but leave real people alone. These rules apply to everything: chat, player names, notes on boards, sculptures, builds and names you give things.
Part of the game: allowed
These can be annoying, but they are normal play outside a parcel:
- fighting and defeating other players;
- digging, chopping, burning or building on land nobody has claimed;
- competing for resources, or driving a hard bargain in a trade.
Never allowed
- Anything illegal, including content that sexualises children. We report this to the authorities.
- Approaching minors. Do not try to contact a minor for sexual purposes, or get a young player to move to a private channel or to share personal details.
- Threats and violence. Threatening anyone in earnest, encouraging self-harm, or supporting terrorism or violent extremism.
- Hate and harassment. Attacking people for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, gender, sexuality, disability or age, and targeted, repeated harassment of anyone. This includes hateful symbols built into the world.
- Sharing private information. Posting someone's real name, address, photos or similar without permission.
- Sexual content. Sexually explicit chat, names or builds. Players as young as 13 are here.
- Scams. Tricking anyone into giving you items, crypto-assets, passwords or recovery phrases. No admin will ever ask for your password or recovery phrase.
- Impersonation. Pretending to be an admin, us or someone else.
- Cheating. Cheat clients, bots, automation, tampering with network traffic, or knowingly exploiting bugs. Report bugs instead.
- Attacks on the service. Flooding, overloading or hacking servers or accounts, or trying to get around a ban.
- Spam and advertising. Repeated messages, or promoting outside services, tokens or investments.
- Real-money trading. Selling or buying accounts, items or services for money or crypto-assets outside features built into the game.
- Other people's rights. Building or posting material that infringes copyright or trademarks.
How we enforce the rules
People do the moderating, and we do not automatically scan or filter chat or builds. Admins act on what they see and on reports, which can include reading server logs. Depending on how serious it is and on your history, we may:
- warn you, or remove or change the content;
- disconnect you from the server (a kick);
- ban your account so that it cannot log in, until the ban is lifted or for good;
- report serious matters to the authorities.
We act fairly and in proportion, with regard to everyone's rights, including freedom of expression. Where someone's safety is at risk we may act immediately.
If we act against you
We will tell you what we did and why, which rule or law it is based on and how to appeal. Admins give the reason when they kick or ban you in the game. Because we do not have your email address, you can write to us for the full statement of reasons.
You can appeal for free within 6 months by writing to toni.lukkaroinen@gmail.com with your player name and why you think the decision was wrong. Someone other than the person who made the decision will look at it, where that is possible. If we were wrong, we will undo what we can. Your right to go to court is not affected, and in the EU you can also use a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body.
Those who repeatedly break the rules, or repeatedly send false reports, may have their accounts banned or their reports ignored for a reasonable time.
Staying safe
- Keep your real name, address, school and photos to yourself.
- Never share your passwords or your wallet's recovery phrase, and use a game password you use nowhere else.
- Be careful of anyone who wants to move a conversation out of the game, or who offers you a deal that seems too good to be true.
- If something makes you uncomfortable, walk away (chat only reaches 300 m), tell an adult you trust, and report it.
